Description
Quick & Easy Bias Tape Appliqué Quilt
Sunday 11th June – Morning 10:30am-1pm
Tutor – Catriona Brown
In this half day class we’ll learn how to make a quick and easy quilt using bias tape appliqué. We’ll use a simple method to create a curving join between your two pieces of background fabric. We’ll then use a variety of different pieces of bias binding of various fabrics and widths to create curving and swirling designs across your quilt top and pin then stitch them in place. You can have as many or as few lines of appliqué as you choose. If you are making a smaller quilt with fewer lines you may even get the quilt top finished in the half day class. This should give you some basic skills in bias tape appliqué, there’s lots of possibilities out there if you like it! Fabric quantities and guidance will be provided for two quilt sizes, 42”x55” and 60”x76”.
This class is designed to work together with the class, ‘Making and Using Continuous Bias Binding’. This takes place in the morning on Sunday 21st of May. If you want to use bias binding you’ve made yourself for your quilt then you may want to sign up for that class as well. You will be refunded £5 if you sign up for both.
Bring your sewing machine, fabric (exact amounts will be sent with your order confirmation), bias binding in a variety of fabrics and widths and basic sewing kit. Sewing machines are available on request.
Basic sewing machine experience is necessary.
