Modern Crewelwork – Wednesday 30th September and Wednesday 7th October Evenings

£59.00

Modern Crewelwork – Wednesday 30th September 6.30-9pm

and Wednesday 7th October 6.30-9pm

Tutor – Jo Avery

Introducing a new embroidery class from Jo!

Jo has been exploring crewelwork stitches using wool thread and has given them a modern twist with this Pebble Sampler design. We will start by hand drawing our pebbles (like doodling really!) and then colour them in with thread. Jo will be teaching a wide range of traditional crewel work stitches, including chain stitch, rose stitch, spiderweb back stitch, colonial knots, split stitch, seed stitch, satin stitch and laid work. She’ll also show you how to add wool felt applique to create a stunning design which can be used as a picture or added to any number of homemade items such as pillows or bags.

We will tackle each stitch to get you started but you will finish the piece at home (embroidery is slow and mindful). Suitable for students who have done a little embroidery previously. Beginner embroiderers are also welcome, though you will get better results if you have done some hand sewing previously.

A kit containing containing Jo’s new wool thread collection plus linen and felt used will be available to buy at the class.
