Description
Introduction to Sashiko
Sunday 4th June – Morning 10:30am – 1pm
Tutor – Catriona Brown
Sashiko is a traditional Japanese embroidery technique involving a running stitch. Catriona will be showing you how to mark up designs, use the thread correctly, the meaning of some of the motifs, and sharing tips and advice to get you started. We will make 6” squares with a roughly 4” wide design in each that can be used to make a simple coaster, a patch for clothes or stitched together into a larger sampler! We will look at 2 different designs in the class and fabric and instructions to make 5 squares is included in the class.
This class is suitable for complete beginners but please be aware that it is quite an intensive class, we’ll be working hard!
(Image shows two 6” squares and two 4” squares, we will be working towards four 6” squares and one 8” square)
