Introduction to Sashiko
Sunday 17th October – afternoon 2.00 – 4.30pm
Sashiko is a traditional Japanese embroidery technique involving a running stitch. Catriona will be showing you how to mark up designs, use the thread correctly, the meaning of some of the motifs, and sharing tips and advice to get you started. We will make 6” squares with a roughly 4” wide design in each that can be used to make a simple coaster, a patch for clothes or stitched together into a larger sampler! We will look at 4 different designs in the class. Suitable for total beginners, supplies to make 4 squares are included.
(Image shows two 6” squares and two 4” squares, we will be working towards four 6” squares)
