Diagonal Rainbow Quilt Sunday 29th August – full day 10.30am – 4pm
Tutor – Catriona Brown
We’ll be learning how to make this surprisingly simple but effective quilt over the course of two Sunday mornings. You will probably finish a couple of blocks during the class and will know everything you need to finish off the quilt top at home. The quilt top I’ve made and photographed is 48″x66″, a useful lap quilt size, and is made from twelve blocks. If desired you can make 24 blocks for a much larger 72″x88″ quilt. We will spend the first morning cutting our fabric and doing some strip piecing of the rainbow sections. On the second morning we will learn how to cut our strip pieced sections to size, how to assemble our block and also how to join the blocks together. Remember, this doesn’t have to be a rainbow quilt, you can chose any colour combination you’d like!
This is a great class for those of you who have attended one of our beginner patchwork classes and now want to try out new techniques. It’s also an interesting and different block pattern for more experienced quilters to learn! Bring your sewing machine, fabric (exact amounts will be sent with your order confirmation) and basic sewing kit. Sewing machines are available on request.
