This full day workshop will give you the basic skills required to make a Log Cabin Patchwork Quilt. We will aim to complete one large block which you can either turn into a gorgeous cushion cover, a placemat, or you can keep going and turn your one block into a whole quilt (at home!). We will also demonstrate the basics of basting and quilting as well as how to finish your cushion.
The workshop aims to get you started with the basics of quiltmaking, taking you through using a rotary cutter and strip piecing on a machine. We will also give advice on colour choice and design and you can actually begin a quilt there and then! You will need your sewing machine and a good selection of cotton fabric, including a half metre piece for backing if you want to make a cushion or placemat. We will supply the wadding. Detailed fabric requirements will be sent with your order confirmation. We do have some sewing machines that can be borrowed on the day, please email to reserve one.
We have a large stock of suitable fabric at the shop which you can buy on the day.
Suitable for complete patchwork novices but some sewing machine experience necessary. If you would like to try and finish a cushion on the day you can order a 14″ cushion pad below or bring along your own.
