Crochet is an addictive, rewarding and mindful hobby that will keep you happy for years to come! In these classes we will look at the crochet basics; how to hold your hook and yarn, and will cover and practice the basic stitches you’ll need to begin your crochet journey, whilst making a variety of skill-building items perfect for beginners.
In our first class we will learn about;
Using a double crochet stitch, we will begin with making fingerless mitts.
In our second class, we move on to crocheting in the round to make coasters. We will learn our second crochet stitch; a half treble.
In our final class, we move onto the traditional granny square, learning our third stitch; a treble and will explore some options with our granny square; do we want to make lots of little granny squares or keep going in rounds to make an infinity granny blanket, or maybe you’ve an idea in mind waiting for this mindful little square.
By the end of your sessions, you will be able to chain, double crochet, half treble crochet and crochet a treble giving you the foundations to build on in the crochet world.
Throughout the classes, there will be homework. Practice and dedication are essential to learning any new skill and will build confidence for returning to your next class.
A crochet hook and ball of yarn will be included to get you started, they will be all you need for the first class, and you will get advice on other material requirements for the second and third classes.
Suitable for complete beginners.
