myBearpaw is a craft class studio and specialist retailer which started inside Avery Homestore (one of Edinburgh’s best independent home and craft retailers for over fifteen years). In April 2014 it moved to new premises in Edinburgh where Jo Avery further developed her myBearpaw brand of sewing classes, fabric, wool and haberdashery. In July 2020 the business was taken over by Catriona Brown who aims to continue in the same creative vein, with interesting classes and lovely craft supplies.
myBearpaw Craft Classes – where you can learn new skills in a friendly, relaxed environment. With an emphasis on fun and creativity, the aim of our workshops is to share skills and inspire students to get involved in a wide range of crafts such as quilting, crochet, knitting, patchwork, embroidery, bag making, sewing machine skills. These days are about treating yourself while you learn!
Our huge craft studio in our store provides the ideal spacious, well-lit environment to inspire and delight.

CORONA VIRUS UPDATE – 28/8/20
Our Edinburgh shop is back to our normal hours of 10am to 5pm, Wednesday to Saturday. We understand that not everyone will be able or want to return to physical shopping and we will continue catering to those customers who wish to shop with us via phone calls or the website.
New Shop Rules
We are still operating with our ‘one customer in the shop at any one time’ rule that we employed pre-lockdown. This means that if there is someone in the shop when you arrive you will need to wait outside and make sure any queuing is socially distanced.
On entering the shop we will request that you use the hand sanitiser provided. Inside the shop you will be required to wear a face covering and avoid touching surfaces, including fabric as much as possible. Our staff will also wear face coverings. As most of you know our shop is quite small and we feel these extra precautions are sensible at the present time.
Our staff will make sure that all surfaces are kept as clean as possible and we promise to do all we can to ensure our shop is a safe environment for all while retaining our usual friendly helpful service.
Unfortunately Crafternoons, Craft Club and Craft Classes remain on hold until further notice.
Meanwhile for those of you unable to come to the shop in person please continue to check our website for new stock deliveries. We’ve had lots of new fabric in over the last couple of weeks including a lovely range of Festive fabrics so you can get started on Christmas sewing!
You can try calling us any time on 0131 228 6377, if you have trouble getting through please leave a clear message and we will return your call when we are able.
If you are unable to get through on the phone or would just rather contact us by email please send your correspondence to firstname.lastname@example.org.
